Project Description

Omak School District requires all seniors to complete an approved Culminating Project in order to receive their high school diploma. The Culminating Project is focused around career exploration and each senior's future plans.

It incorporates the following skill areas: communication, technology, organization, research, analytical thinking skills, and presentation skills. The student will choose a project that connects skill development and research with their career pathway and their High School and Beyond Plan. The project may also include their post-secondary applications, resume, letters of recommendation, personal essay, college and scholarship applications, as well as community service documentation.

The Culminating Project requires the student to use skills and knowledge acquired to research a possible career with concentration on the Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALR's) with an emphasis on Goals 3 and 4.

Goal 3: The student will be able to think analytically, logically, and creatively and to integrate experience and knowledge to form reasoned judgments and solve problems.

Goal 4: The student will understand the importance of work and how performance, effort, and decisions directly affect future career and educational opportunities.

The project is most often integrated into the Current World Problems class. Students are also encouraged to access other teachers for support of the project. Updates and reminders will be done throughout the year at the senior parent meetings, school bulletins, and mailings. The senior parent meetings are held the first Monday or every month.

Students a parents are encouraged to contact the student's CWP teacher or Ande Chapman, 826-8517.
